Robbies SpaceHello people December 06 Tommy Emmanuel GigWent to see Auzzie musician Tommy Emmanuel play his gig in the Waterfront Hall Belfast. A touch of guitar class and on an acoustic no over drive to hide the bum notes, not that he made any. The best bit for me was probably ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’ with its crazy interludes that sounded like a harp, and some strange jazz chords.
He also played a Beatles medley with 'day tripper' being my favourite, with bass, chords, and melody showing Mr. Emmanuel's not just a pleasant plucker.
Having said all these great things there was this weird Aboriginal based tune he played that made me think i was in some sort of drug induced coma and certainly when he finished it i felt like I’d come out of one I suppose that’s what u get for sitting 2 feet from the front of house speaker stack. December 02 24/7 prayerI'm not one for this blogging crap as you may have guessed, but I was at this 24/7 prayer thing in Belfast last night and i noticed all these painted posters around the room and this one caught my attention a pretty cool looking angel i thought. But what is that thing in the middle of the angel? (see contented angel pic) July 16 ZoosA zoo is an institution where mainly wild and exotic animals are restricted within enclosures, bred and displayed to the public. The term zoological garden refers to the biological discipline zoology, which derives from Greek Ζωο ("animal"), and λογος ("study"). The term was first used in 1828 for the London Zoological Gardens, soon shortened by the Londoners to the abbreviation “zoo”.
All the photos are taken at Belfast Zoo which started life as Bellevue Pleasure Gardens, a public park and recreational area, in 1911 on the slopes of Cavehill.
The gardens were opened by Belfast City Tramways to give an incentive for Belfast's residents to use the company's new tramway. Twelve acres of the site were redeveloped as a zoo in 1933. Initially the zoo was very popular, attracting over 280,000 visitors a year.
During World War II many of the zoo's dangerous animals were put down. The decline continued into the 1960s, when the zoo's facilities fell into disrepair.
Belfast City Council acquired the facility in 1962, starting a long process of renovation. Under the supervision of manager John Stronge, the new zoo eventually opened in 1978.
